Principal's Message
Welcome to Monarch PK-8, Home of the Mustangs!
Monarch PreK-8 School has around 725 students who are excited to do their very best job of learning! As families and faculty, we believe we share the same excitement and responsibility to make sure that every day, every child is learning. Monarch PreK-8 's staff focuses on making certain that school time is used to maximize learning, and that traditional academic disciplines are at the heart of what we do. High expectations for instruction, curriculum and discipline continue to receive our strong support and attention!
As we all know, volunteers can make an important difference to our children. Reading a story to a child, listening to a child read, helping a child with math facts, sharing a career with young people, helping in the Library Media Center, inviting seniors and neighbors to be a part of a learning at school, are all ways in which positive support helps children at Monarch PreK-8 in their educational journey.
The culture of Monarch PreK-8 parallels the culture of our community, making parent partnerships easy to develop and maintain. The staff views parents as valuable assets in the joint education of students. Parents visit and volunteer in the school. They want to know how their children are progressing and what they can do to support their education. Frequent newsletters and conferences keep communication open between the school and parents and assist in empowering parents with the educational process of their children. Our active PTO- parent teacher organization helps support students and teachers with their times, interests, ideas, activities and financial support for special programs and projects.
The mission of the Monarch PK-8 community is to empower all learners to reach their unique potential and become compassionate engaged global learners. This is much more than a mission statement. It expresses an outline of the job we must accomplish for this school year and beyond. It speaks of our obligation to provide educational opportunities resulting in learning for EVERY child.
Our staff is committed to the District mission of the Boulder Valley School District is to create challenging, meaningful and engaging learning opportunities so that all children thrive and are prepared for successful, civically engaged lives:

Some examples of past experiences: Choir, Drama, Science Fair, Poetry, ASL Club, Athletics, Monarch PreK-8 Run Club, and cooking classes. These activities are either student driven or teacher driven and provide opportunities for students to form friendships, accept additional responsibility and practice intellectual and social skills.
