Grades 7-8

The Monarch PK-8 outdoor education club (ODE) is for 7th and 8th graders to learn and experience the benefits of the outdoors.  Through activities, hikes and other outdoor experiences we will learn to appreciate the great outdoors that Colorado has to offer.  The culminating event of this club is a backpacking trip to Utah in April/May of 2025.

The backpacking trip is limited in the number of students we can take so we have created a system for students to earn points to join us on this trip.  Every few weeks the ODE sponsors, Mr Courkamp and Ms McLaurin, will offer activities students can participate in to earn points. Below is a list of possible activity options.

For information regarding this Middle Level Club, contact  Kristin McLaurin, kristin.mclaurin@bvsd.org or Kirtis Courkamp, kirtis.courkamp@bbvsd.org

Lifelong Learning Programs

BVSD Lifelong Learning offers a way for kids to expand their knowledge without having to worry about grades or homework. After the school bell rings or during the summer, students can switch gears from core curriculum to their choice of creative, active and/or brain building options. Igniting a spark outside of the classroom can improve children’s attitude toward school and boost their self-confidence. Best of all, Lifelong Learning reinvests 100% of its profits back into BVSD.
