Jazz Band

Mustang Jazz, the longest running club at MPK8, is an award winning jazz band made up of hard working musicians from every grade. The rehearsals for our jazz band happen outside of the school day and the incredibly motivated students that make up this group learn how to play in many different styles, including swing, rock, pop, latin, and funk. These musiciaans also learn the basics of improvisation and can expect to perform improvised solos. The jazz band operates as an extension of the traditional concert band class, so students must be enrolled in band class to take part in this exciting ensemble! (Enrollment requirements waived for piano and guitar players).

Lifelong Learning Programs

BVSD Lifelong Learning offers a way for kids to expand their knowledge without having to worry about grades or homework. After the school bell rings or during the summer, students can switch gears from core curriculum to their choice of creative, active and/or brain building options. Igniting a spark outside of the classroom can improve children’s attitude toward school and boost their self-confidence. Best of all, Lifelong Learning reinvests 100% of its profits back into BVSD.
